Breaking down some common myths about physiotherapy!

  1. “Only people who have pain benefit from physio!” Although pain is usually the most common reason people see physiotherapists, we can help manage neurological conditions, fall risks, strength deficits, vertigo, concussion and more!
  2. “My physiotherapy isn’t working if its not causing me pain” No pain, no gain can actually be quite harmful and is definitely not necessary for improvement with physio!
  3. “If I see a physiotherapist, they’re just going to tell me to stop playing my favourite sport” As a physiotherapist, our main focus is being able to allow you to keep doing the things and activities you love! Although sometimes, it may be necessary to stop your sport for a period of time, we always try to allow our patients to remain on the field where is is safe and sensible.
  4. “I need a referral to see a physiotherapist”. At SSP, are are first-line practitioners and you don’t need a referral to come see us!
