A study done by Pedro F. Saint-Maurice in 2019 looked at the exercise levels of over 315 000 adults aged 50-71yrs who lived in the US.
This study found that of these people, those who exercised for around 2 to 8 hours per week regularly since they were 15, had a 29-36% reduced risk of early death from any cause.
Interestingly, when they looked at people who didn’t exercise regularly when they were younger and increased their exercise after 40yrs of age, they found that these people also had a 32-35% reduced risk of early death, compared to those who didn’t exercise.
Therefore, even if you didn’t exercise much when you were younger, you can still start today to have big benefits for your health!
