A study done by Gao et.al revealed that in a randomized group of 18 overweight and obese men, short and frequent squatting or walking resulted in better enhancement of glycaemic control and muscle activity compared to a single bout of walking during a day of prolonged sitting.
Therefore, it can actually be better to get up from your desk and do some light movements/walks multiple times a day than going for a long walk at the end of the day!
